Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed that russia had started a new wave of attacks in the Kharkiv oblast on the morning of May 10. Zelensky said this during a briefing in Kyiv on May 10.
"Russia has begun a new wave of counter-offensive actions in this direction (in the north of the Kharkiv oblast - OstroV). Ukraine has met them there with our troops, brigades, and artillery. It is important that they can increase and reinforce their forces in this direction. This is a fact. But our military, the military command, knew about this and calculated their forces to meet the enemy with fire. There is now fierce fighting in this direction. With artillery fire - from what I know at seven... around seven-eight in the morning - we met with fire and I know that artillery fire has now been stopped", - said Zelensky.
Earlier, with reference to the head of the Kharkiv Oblast Military Administration, Oleh Synehubov, it was reported that the russian occupiers do not pose a threat to Kharkiv, but they have enough forces for provocations in the northern direction.
It was also reported with reference to the Ministry of Defense, that the russians attempted to break through the defense on the Vovchansk direction in the Kharkiv oblast.
