Moscow mayor Sergey Sobyanin has promised to send 23,000 muscovites to war by the end of the year, according to russian media reports.

The mayor is confident that generous payments will serve as a strong incentive, with more than 20,000 people expected to volunteer by signing contracts with the russian defense ministry.

Sobyanin noted that moscow has already sent 43,000 residents to the front lines.

As previously reported, the moscow mayor has introduced a one-time payment of 1.9 million rubles ($20,600) for those who sign contracts with the defense ministry. Considering federal payments and salary, a contractor could potentially earn 5.2 million rubles ($56,600) during their first year of participation in the "special military operation", provided they survive.
