The "DNR" covers only 30% of its budget revenue in 2024, according to the revised budget of the "republic".

The revenue is planned to be about 238 billion rubles, with the local economy of the occupied Donetsk oblast contributing around 72 billion. The remaining 166 billion rubles come from so-called "gratuitous receipts", meaning direct subsidies from the kremlin.

However, even with this funding, the "young republic" faces a budget deficit of 15 billion rubles for 2024.

As previously reported, russia's Deputy Minister of Construction and Housing, Almaz Khusainov, acknowledged that the russian government allocates over 1.5 trillion rubles annually to "new territories" for social programs, pensions, and infrastructure development, confirming that the annexed regions depend on russia's budget. This information has not been widely shared in the occupied Donbas.
