As a result of russia’s full-scale invasion, more than 6,000 environmental crimes have already been recorded, with the damage estimated at UAH 2.6-2.7 trillion (USD 65 billion – OstroV), reported Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets on November 6.

“Due to russia’s invasion, we have recorded over 6,000 environmental crimes, with damage now reaching UAH 2.6-2.7 trillion. Mined territories, destroyed forest lands, contaminated water resources, and polluted atmosphere – all of this leads to ecocide. This day calls on the international community to unite in protecting nature under wartime conditions. It’s crucial to remember that environmental protection is as valuable as peace and security”, - emphasized Lubinets.
