Russian forces launched an airstrike on central Kharkiv overnight on November 8, as reported by Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov, Kharkiv Oblast Military Administration head Oleh Synehubov, and Ukraine’s State Emergency Service on Telegram.

“There were explosions in Kharkiv. Stay safe!”, - Terekhov posted at 3:04 AM.

Later, he confirmed that two strikes hit densely populated residential and historic areas in central Kharkiv.

“One of the KABs struck a 12-story building in the Saltivka district. Several floors have been destroyed. People are trapped under the rubble. There's a fire. A search and rescue operation is underway. On the third floor of the 12-story building, people are still blocked. Rescue efforts continue”, - Terekhov wrote.

As of 4:40 AM, there were reports of 14 injured in Saltivka, including a 3-month-old infant.

“The number of wounded keeps rising. It’s now at 25”, - Terekhov updated at 5:40 AM.

“Thirty people, including 4 children, have been evacuated. The building’s entrance from the 1st to the 3rd floor is partially destroyed. Nearby residential buildings, five cars, and the entrances to a metro station have been damaged”, - Synehubov reported.
