Propagandists from the so-called "DNR" published photos of the devastated Halytsynivka, which was "liberated" following intense air and artillery strikes. They admitted that the village has a "heart-wrenching appearance". The "official" publication of the "DNR" describes it as: "No electricity, heating, water, or shops; buildings scorched by battles — this is the landscape of Halytsynivka, liberated by Russian forces in early September".

The so-called "liberation" was witnessed by no more than 70 people out of the approximately one thousand pre-war residents.

As usual, "DNR" propagandists claimed that the destruction of Halytsynivka was the result of Ukrainian forces, citing supposed "fragments of Ukrainian shells" as evidence. Meanwhile, russian media, celebrating the "liberation" of yet another village in the Donetsk oblast, openly reported that russian "artillery and air forces struck the Ukrainian Armed Forces in this sector, after which assault groups took control of Halytsynivka".
