Part of Ukraine's gas transportation system can be leased by Italian Snam and Slovak Eustream. This is stated in the article "Uno pipe and a lot of problémy" of Dzerkalo Tyzhnia.
It is noted that on April 10, 2017, a memorandum was signed between NAK Naftogaz of Ukraine, PAO Ukrtransgaz, Italian Snam S.p.A and Slovak Eustream a.s.
"Its core is the search for the most acceptable variant of using Ukraine's gas transportation system, especially after the termination of the" transit "contract with Russian Gazprom, and the involvement of potential partners for the transit of gas through the Ukrainian gas transportation system", - the material says.
The issue will be discussed at a gas conference with the participation of the Ukrainian government and the leadership of NAK Naftogaz of Ukraine next week.
The author of the article notes that the Italian-Slovak proposal is worth the attention not least because the proposed format of cooperation between operators of gas transportation systems does not require either privatization or changing the ownership of the gas transportation system and underground gas storage facilities of Ukraine.
Political will of the government of Ukraine as a shareholder of Naftogaz to continue the transportation of Russian gas through the domestic gas transportation system is necessary after the end of the ten-year "transit" contract, concluded in January 2009, not without active pressure on Ukraine by the European Commission.
According to the sources of Dzerkalo Tyzhnia, a jointly developed version of gas transit through the gas transportation system of Ukraine, Slovakia and Austria before entering the gas transportation system of Italy was proposed for consideration by the president and the government of Ukraine.
