The most probable cause of explosions of ammunition at arms depots in the Chernihiv oblast is sabotage. This was reported by Deputy Chief of General Staff Radion Tymoshenko during the briefing, - RBC-Ukraine reports.

According to him, the intensity of explosions in different places suggests that it is most likely act of sabotage.

The Defence Ministry noted that the SBU considers sabotage as one of the versions of causes of the fire.

According to the press service of the SBU, a complex of urgent investigative actions is being carried out at the scene of the incident.

"The law enforcement officers are checking several versions. In particular, the Security Service of Ukraine, within the limits of its competence, is working on the version of a possible act of sabotage. Also, as part of criminal proceedings instituted by the military prosecutor's office under Part 3 of Art 425 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, the SBU directorate in Chernihiv oblast will conduct a pre-trial investigation", - the report said.

As previously reported, an explosion occurred in the technical area of arms depot near the town of Ichnia, Chernihiv oblast. Now the territory of the arms depot is engulfed in fire. The evacuation of military and civilians has begun. There is no information about the dead and wounded.

The airspace is closed within a radius of 30 km, movement of railway and automobile transport is suspended. About 12 thousand people have already been evacuated.
