The opinion of editor-in-chief of the Russia Today TV channel Margarita Simonyan about the need to annex Donbas to Russia is her personal point of view. This was stated by official representative of the MFA Maria Zakharova on the air of the Dozhd TV channel.
"This is her opinion, her point of view, her position. Moreover, she has already voiced it before in various forms", - Zakharova said, having pointed out that Simonyan is neither a public employee nor an official.
As previously reported, speaking at the so-called integration forum "Russian Donbass" in occupied Donetsk on January 28, Simonyan called on Russia to "take away" the eastern region of Ukraine.
"Mother Russia, take the Donbas home", - she turned to the Russian leadership.
