In the District Court of The Hague, which is considering the case of the crash of flight MH17, the prosecution provided evidence that the Russian Armed Forces in 2014 fired from heavy artillery at the Ukrainian positions in the Donbas from the territory of the Russian Federation.

The prosecutors reported that in 2014, Russian artillery fired at the positions of Ukrainian forces from the Russian territory. These claims were corroborated by evidence from the Dutch intelligence and the Royal Institute for Defence and Security Studies.

The investigation provided a map of shelling of the Ukrainian territory from the Russian side. The coordinates of positions of the defenders of Ukraine were provided to the aggressor by representatives of the occupation forces, who called themselves the "DNR/LNR militia" for camouflage.
