Russian occupiers have blown up the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Plant in the Kherson oblast on June 6, according to the Operational Command South.

"The russian occupying forces have carried out the demolition of the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Plant. The extent of the destruction, the speed and volume of water, and the potential areas of flooding are currently being determined. All services are actively working, and the situation is being monitored", - the statement reads.

In response, Oleksandr Prokudin, the Head of the Kherson Oblast Military Administration, informed that the evacuation of residents from the areas, which are at risk of flooding due to the demolition of the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Plant’s dam, has commenced.

"The evacuation of residents from the endangered areas has been initiated. All services, including the State Emergency Service, the police, and the military, are working together. I urge everyone to pack their documents and essential belongings and await evacuation buses", - the address states.
