Representatives of Ukraine and Japan, within the framework of the Conference on Economic Development and Reconstruction in Tokyo, signed 56 documents. Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal announced this on February 19th on Telegram.
"We signed an intergovernmental convention on the avoidance of double taxation, which is extremely important for Japanese businesses planning new projects in Ukraine. More than a dozen agreements on supporting Ukraine's recovery with powerful Japanese organizations: JICA, JETRO, the Export Credit Agency NEXI, and the Japan Bank for International Cooperation. Grant agreements have been signed for the implementation of recovery programs, as well as a series of documents between the Ministry of Agrarian Policy of Ukraine and Japanese companies, providing Ukraine with various agricultural machinery and equipment. An intergovernmental memorandum of cooperation in the field of education and technology. Japan is a leader in these areas. It is important to build a true partnership", - Shmyhal noted.
He added that Naftogaz reached an agreement on a wind energy project, and the operator of Ukraine's gas transmission system signed a Memorandum on the preparation for the modernization of gas compressor stations. Documents have also been signed in the fields of energy, telecommunications, infrastructure construction, and ecology.
"Japan has already shown leadership in providing financial support to Ukraine. Now Japan should become one of the leaders in Ukrainian recovery and investment in our economy", - emphasized Shmyhal.
As reported, the government of Ukraine is studying the experience of Japan's modernization.
