G7 countries will keep russian assets frozen until they obtain payments from russia for the damage inflicted on Ukraine. This decision was made by the ministers of the "Group of Seven" nations at a meeting in New York. This was reported by the Telegram channel "DW Glavnoe" on April 18.
G7 once again urged russia to end the war in Ukraine, as it negatively affects trade, global supply chains, and prices of raw materials, among other things.
Representatives of the "Group of Seven" also called for the expansion of humanitarian aid deliveries to the civilian population in the Gaza Strip, greater efforts to achieve a long-term ceasefire in the Middle East, and the release of hostages captured by Hamas terrorists in Israel.
The escalation in the Middle East and russia's full-scale war against Ukraine were described by G7 ministers as the biggest sources of uncertainty for the global economy.
As reported, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) adopted a resolution calling for the use of frozen russian assets to aid in the reconstruction of Ukraine.
