Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development of Germany, Svenja Schulze, arrived in the Ukrainian capital by train on the morning of May 9th. The visit was not announced in advance, as reported by the Telegram channel "BILD na russkom".
It is noted that the minister will participate in the Summit of Cities and Regions, discuss the reconstruction of Ukraine, repair of the country's energy system, and the training of specialists. This visit serves as a preparatory stage for a major conference on the reconstruction of Ukraine, which will take place on June 11-12 in Berlin. The conference expects 1500 participants, including heads of states and governments.
"When I was here in Kyiv two years ago, we were almost certain that this war would end very quickly. We hoped that russia would stop the invasion. It's been two years since then. This war has brought immeasurable suffering and incredible destruction to the people. That's why Germany supports the reconstruction of Ukraine. People here are rebuilding their country every day, they do not give up. Therefore, it is very important to have support not only with weapons but also for peaceful reconstruction. Doctors and electricians are no less important than tanks. Therefore, there will be a major conference on reconstruction, which we will organize in Berlin together with Ukraine. We need more people so that this country can resist and withstand the war against russia", - said Schulze upon arrival in Kyiv.
As reported, the President of the European Parliament arrived in Kyiv on an unannounced visit.
