The United States is not changing its policy regarding strikes on russian territory with ATACMS missiles due to concerns about escalation. Pentagon representative Pat Ryder stated this in an interview with "Voice of America".

He recalled that the U.S. recently allowed Ukrainian defenders to strike russian territory but only within the framework of defense or retaliatory strikes.

"But our policy regarding long-range strikes has not changed. I think it’s important to understand that we do not want to see unintended consequences, an escalation that could turn this conflict into a broader one that extends beyond Ukraine. I think that is something we all need to consider and take very seriously", - Ryder added.

However, he noted that the U.S. has never underestimated the threat posed by russia. Therefore, Washington will continue to work with Kyiv to ensure that the Ukrainian military has everything necessary to defend their country.

It is worth noting that Zelensky previously stated that Britain had authorized strikes on russia.
