Ukraine has received a $3.9 billion non-refundable grant from the United States through the World Bank. Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal announced this on Telegram on August 5.
"These funds will assist in financing priority budget expenses, such as salaries for teachers, medical workers, and rescuers, as well as social benefits. This is the first tranche of direct budget support from the United States for 2024. Overall, Ukraine will receive $7.8 billion in direct budget assistance from the U.S. this year, which will help us confidently navigate this financial period", - Shmyhal noted.
"Thank you to the United States and the World Bank for their high level of attention and support, which strengthens our resilience in countering the barbaric russian aggression", - the Prime Minister emphasized.
It was also reported that European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen announced the allocation of €1.5 billion in revenues from frozen russian assets to Ukraine.
