In the city of Toretsk in the Donetsk oblast, the Ukrainian Armed Forces control 45% of the territory. Over 1,100 civilians still remain there. This was reported by the head of the Toretsk City Military Administration, Vasyl Chynchyk, on October 11 during a national Ukrainian TV news marathon broadcast.
"Fortunately, the russians have not managed to advance in the past 24 hours. Approximately 45% of the city is under the control of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. The other territory is occupied by the enemy, and they are trying to capture more, but the Armed Forces are giving a strong defense and holding their positions", - said the head of the military administration.
According to him, there is still an opportunity to evacuate civilians, but it is challenging—evacuations can only be carried out during certain periods when there is a lull in fighting.
"The remaining people, 1,150 of them, if they leave, they often do so with just their documents or sometimes without any because they've burned", - Chynchyk noted.
He also mentioned that yesterday seven people were evacuated from the Toretsk community, emphasizing that the authorities and the military are making every effort to evacuate the population.
