On October 11, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky shared on Telegram what he discussed during his meeting with the Pope.

"For all of us in Ukraine, the issues concerning prisoners of war and deported people remain incredibly painful. These are adults and children, many civilians, who are now in prisons and camps in russia. Yesterday, it became known that Ukrainian journalist Viktoria Roshchina died in captivity in russia. For many Ukrainian journalists who knew Viktoria, her death is a devastating blow. Many other journalists, public figures, community leaders from occupied territories, and even ordinary people captured during the russian occupation remain in russian captivity", - Zelensky said.

"The issue of bringing our people home from captivity was the main topic during the meeting with Pope Francis. We are counting on the Holy See's assistance in returning Ukrainians captured by russia", - the President emphasized.
