Russia welcomes "volunteers" from North Korea and other countries in the "special military operation" zone. This was stated by Alexey Zhuravlyov, the first deputy chairman of the russian State Duma Committee on Defense, according to russian media.

According to him, there are no restrictions on this matter, and such "volunteers" could be granted russian citizenship as a priority.

"As for the participation of North Koreans in combat on the Russian side, we are happy to accept any volunteers who can strengthen our army. There are no restrictions in this regard; moreover, I would prioritize offering our citizenship to such enthusiasts who are willing to defend our country with weapons in hand", - said the deputy.

He added that North Korea has not been involved in combat since the 1950s, so the fighters lack experience.

"One way or another, North Korea has not participated in military operations since the 1950s; in any case, experience will come to them only after several months of participation in combat. Then we can assess their effectiveness. But today, we are genuinely happy to strengthen our army in any way, and it would be foolish to refuse help", - Zhuravlyov concluded.

It was reported that 18 North Korean soldiers have already fled positions near Ukraine's border with russia's Bryansk and Kursk oblasts.

It should be noted that russians are forming a so-called "special Buryat battalion" composed of North Korean citizens.
