Russian troops had approached within four kilometers of Kupiansk, and the Ukrainian Armed Forces continuously repel enemy attacks. This was stated by the head of the Kharkiv Oblast Military Administration, Oleh Syniehubov, during a national Ukrainian TV news marathon on October 17.
According to him, the situation in the Kupiansk direction is constantly changing, with a dangerous dynamic in military activity for the civilian population.
"The enemy had already approached – let's say, the closest distance to the city of Kupiansk was four kilometers. Of course, the Armed Forces are constantly destroying them, but the current dynamics pose a danger to the civilian population and this settlement", - Syniehubov said.
He noted that everyone in the city is contributing to help the Armed Forces effectively defend. Additionally, evacuation of the civilian population has been implemented in the city.
