Russian president putin's idea to turn the BRICS alliance into an anti-Western coalition aimed at disrupting the "world order" and the dominance of the dollar has not gained traction among key member countries. This was reported by the Telegram channel "The Moscow Times" citing Bloomberg.

To recall, BRICS includes Brazil, russia, India, China, South Africa, Iran, Egypt, Ethiopia, and the United Arab Emirates.

It is noted that Indian officials familiar with the matter told Bloomberg that India does not want to allow BRICS to become an "anti-American" organization dominated by russia and China. This stance, according to the agency's sources, is why New Delhi opposes further expansion of BRICS, which saw six new countries join last year, with dozens more, including global pariahs like Myanmar or Afghanistan, seeking membership.

India's position is shared by Brazil and South Africa, officials from these countries told Bloomberg.

The United Arab Emirates, which joined BRICS following the 2023 summit, also "completely rejects" attempts to portray membership in the bloc as a sign that the Global South is opposed to the West, a Bloomberg source said. The UAE maintains very good relations with Western countries, including the United States, another official emphasized.

It was also reported that Kazakhstan does not want to join BRICS.
