The press secretary of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, Serhiy Nykyforov, has refuted information from the American publication Politico regarding "7 opponents" of inviting Ukraine to NATO. This was reported by RBC-Ukraine on October 24.

"An invitation is the first point of the Ukrainian President's Victory Plan and a reliable path to a just and lasting peace. Volodymyr Zelensky presented the plan to international partners, the Ukrainian parliament, the community, media representatives, and civil society, and is consolidating their efforts to bring Ukraine closer to receiving a NATO invitation", - Nykyforov stated.

He said the information published by Politico, which suggested that seven countries oppose inviting Ukraine to NATO, does not reflect reality.

"These rumors benefit those who want to create a false impression that Ukraine's membership lacks broad support among Alliance members", - Nykyforov noted, emphasizing that the idea of inviting Ukraine is supported by an overwhelming majority of member countries, with active advocacy efforts ongoing for the remaining states.

The Politico article, citing four U.S. officials and NATO diplomats, claimed that seven countries were allegedly against inviting Ukraine to the Alliance, with the U.S. and Germany supposedly leading the opposition. The report also mentioned Hungary, Slovakia, Belgium, Slovenia, and Spain as being opposed to Ukraine's NATO membership.
