More than 38,000 residents have been evacuated from the border territorial communities of the Sumy oblast, with around 20,000 people still needing evacuation. This was stated by the head of the Sumy Oblast Military Administration, Volodymyr Artiukh, as reported by Interfax-Ukraine.

Artiukh highlighted that the primary challenge for the Sumy oblast is creating safe conditions for the population and evacuating residents from border communities under russian shelling. Another critical issue for the region is energy security, as the russians are attempting to destroy critical infrastructure, with the energy sector suffering the most.

"Today, we are receiving assistance from the relevant ministries to restore our energy infrastructure. We are fulfilling all the necessary tasks set by the President of Ukraine and the government to ensure we have adequate reserves for the autumn-winter period. We currently need cogeneration units, generators for housing and utility services, mobile substations, and equipment for restoring energy facilities", - Artiukh said.
