Russian forces are deploying their full arsenal in attacks on the city of Chasiv Yar in the Donetsk oblast, stated Serhiy Chaus, head of Chasiv Yar City Military Administration, in a broadcast on Espreso TV.
"Chasiv Yar looks quite grim. Fighting is taking place very close. The enemy is using practically their entire arsenal, indiscriminately targeting the city. Over the past few weeks, the russians have once again scattered Lepestok PFM-1 mines across the city, causing suffering among locals. Since these mines come in various colors and the roads are littered with autumn foliage, they are very difficult to spot", - Chaus explained.
According to Chaus, around 400 people remain in the city. "We’re currently refining the list. Some residents have started evacuating independently using their own vehicles. Within the week, we’ll have more precise numbers", - he added.
On October 22, Mykola Dovbnia, a Druzhkivka City Council member, reported that enemy forces had broken through near Chasiv Yar, leaving only 7-8 kilometers to reach Kostiantynivka. The British Ministry of Defence has also noted that russian occupation forces likely crossed a canal south of Chasiv Yar, closing in on the city’s borders.
