Horlivka’s “mayor”, Ivan Prikhodko, acknowledged that people are unwilling to live in areas devastated by russian occupation, as indicated in his remarks to local television.
He reported that around 300 residents of Novohrodivka are currently in temporary accommodation facilities in russian-controlled Horlivka.
According to the head of the occupation administration, over 1,400 people left Donbas and moved to the territory of the aggressor country, which Prikhodko referred to as “greater russia”, to stay with relatives. He admitted that only a small number of people remain in Novohrodivka, but he does not know the exact figure. Occupying forces are even unable to deliver humanitarian aid to them.
Before the full-scale invasion, Novohrodivka had a population of over 16,000. Regarding the fate of those who are not living in temporary accommodations in Horlivka or in “greater russia”—which includes at least 14,000 people—he provided no information.
