U.S. President-elect Donald Trump may propose that Ukraine freeze its military conflict with russia without reclaiming territories and delay NATO membership for at least 20 years, sources told The Wall Street Journal (WSJ), as reported by the Telegram channel “The Moscow Times”.

According to these sources, Trump’s advisors are currently discussing this potential plan to end the war. The scenario envisions a ceasefire along the entire frontline, with the creation of a demilitarized zone. However, it remains unclear who would be responsible for securing this zone. One source ruled out the involvement of American troops or a UN contingent in its enforcement.

In exchange for postponing NATO membership for the next 20 years, Trump is expected to continue supplying Ukraine with weapons. “We can train [Ukrainian forces] and provide other support, but [European countries will be primarily responsible]. We’re not sending American men and women to maintain peace in Ukraine. And we’re not footing the bill. Ask the Poles, Germans, Brits, and French to take this on”, - commented a member of Trump’s team.

However, WSJ’s sources noted that Trump has yet to approve any specific plan for ending the conflict in Ukraine. A former national security advisor to the Republican indicated that Trump plans to make the final decision personally at the very last minute, leaving others uncertain about what he might ultimately decide.
