The bodies of 563 fallen defenders were repatriated to Ukraine on November 8, as reported by the Coordination Headquarters for Prisoner Affairs on Telegram.
The statement reads: “As a result of repatriation efforts, 563 bodies of fallen defenders have been returned to Ukraine. Notably, we managed to repatriate 320 bodies of defenders who died in the Donetsk direction and 89 fallen soldiers from the Bakhmut direction. Additionally, 154 bodies were recovered from morgues within russian territory”.
The return of these fallen defenders was made possible through collaboration among the Coordination Headquarters, the Joint Center of the Security Service of Ukraine, Ukraine’s Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Office of the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights, the Secretariat of the Commissioner for Missing Persons under Special Circumstances, the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the State Emergency Service, and other security and defense agencies.
The statement further expressed gratitude to the International Committee of the Red Cross for its support. The repatriated bodies and remains will be transported by the Ukrainian Armed Forces to designated state facilities, where law enforcement and forensic experts will work to identify the deceased.
