Russian president putin hopes to reclaim territories in the Kursk oblast currently held by Ukrainian forces before Donald Trump's inauguration on January 20, 2025, according to Telegram channel "Radio Liberty", referencing The Telegraph.

Citing a report from British military intelligence reviewed by the newspaper, russia is likely to intensify drone attacks on Ukrainian positions in the coming days. Ukrainian analysts suggest that the kremlin might also plan an offensive in the Kursk oblast to push further into the northeastern part of the Ukrainian Sumy oblast.

The Telegraph notes that russia has already recaptured approximately half of the territory taken by Ukrainian forces since the beginning of their operation in August.

The report highlights Trump's campaign promises, where he repeatedly claimed that if elected, he would find a solution to end the war in Ukraine within a single day, though he has not specified the measures he would take.

Additionally, it was previously reported that russia, in collaboration with North Korea, has prepared a 50,000-strong force for an offensive in the Kursk oblast.
