The essence of the "reform" of the coal industry in the "LNR" came down to dividing the region's mines into promising and unpromising ones and subsequently closing the latter. This was reported to local journalists by the "minister of fuel, energy, and coal industry of the republic", Denis Yarosh.

According to him, the "LNR" has fully implemented the coal industry reform in the occupied territory of the Luhansk oblast.

"A total of 17 coal mines were initially selected… Currently, 11 are with investors and operational. The remaining enterprises and mines have been restructured, meaning they are considered unpromising. Coal mining there is inefficient", - Yarosh stated about the closure of six coal enterprises.

As previously reported, the promising mines were handed over to so-called "investors". Most of them have come under the control of the russian company "Donskiye Ugli".
