Ukraine's Foreign Minister, Andriy Sybiha, has called for a ban on importing russian LNG (liquefied natural gas) into the EU. Sybiha's statement was a response to a report by the British newspaper Financial Times, which revealed that EU countries imported a record volume of russian LNG during 2024, according to the Telegram channel of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
"This is unacceptable. The import of russian LNG into the EU must be banned as part of further sanctions and replaced by supplies from the United States and other partners. There is enough liquefied natural gas on the market to avoid financing the criminal russian regime along with its aggression, war crimes, and hybrid attacks", - Andriy Sybiha wrote on the social network X.
