In central Kyiv, on January 1, during a russian drone attack, neurobiologist Ihor Zyma and his wife were killed. This was reported by family friend Dariia Tretiakova-Dushechkina on Facebook.
She recalled the first russian drone attack on Kyiv in 2022, during which a family, including a pregnant wife, similarly perished.
"2025 begins... On October 17, 2022, during the first drone attack on Kyiv, Vika, an incredible girl and one of the best sommeliers in the country, was killed with her entire family: pregnant, with her husband and cat. Just at home. In bed. January 1, 2025, during the first drone attack on Kyiv in 2025, our friend, an outstanding person, Doctor of Science Ihor Zyma, was killed with his entire family: his wife and their cat. Just at home. In bed", - writes Dariia Tretiakova-Dushechkina.
She added that "foreigners, whom I often meet all over the world, often say, 'The main thing is to stop the bloodshed on both sides'".
"I have no polite response to that", - noted the friend of the family killed by russian weapons.
Head of the Presidential Office Andriy Yermak emphasized that the russians struck residential buildings in central Kyiv.
"They deliberately targeted the city center on New Year’s Eve", - he wrote on his Telegram channel.
"Preliminary reports indicate that at least four Shaheds attacked homes in central Kyiv. Law enforcement and experts are thoroughly investigating everything", - Yermak stated.
As reported, debris from drones falling in the Pecherskyi district of the capital caused damage to 17 buildings, including office spaces, the National Bank of Ukraine building, an educational institution, and residential buildings where over 250 apartments were affected.
