Elections in Ukraine can take place no earlier than six months after martial law is lifted. This was stated by the head of the "Servant of the People" party, Olena Shuliak, in an interview with RBC-Ukraine.
"In December of the year before last, all parliamentary factions and groups gathered. These were the so-called 'Monet Dialogues', where a corresponding document was signed: everyone agrees that elections can be held six months after the end of martial law. So, six months is the minimum period during which preparations for elections will be made at both a technical level and in terms of adopting the necessary legislation", - Shuliak stated.
She also added that as long as the war continues and martial law remains in effect, "we will not discuss holding elections".
"Now we need to close this topic—that elections can be held during martial law. We also need to close another topic: whether it is possible not to extend martial law to allow some gap in which to quickly hold elections. This question also needs to be closed because it is factually, physically, and legally impossible", - the head of the party emphasized.
She further noted that any claims suggesting the authorities are preparing to hold online elections "are purely manipulative".
Previously, President Zelensky stated that the president and the Verkhovna Rada remain legitimate until elections are held.
