On Thursday, January 16, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer arrived in the Ukrainian capital for an official visit, reports The Guardian.
It is noted that Starmer plans to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. The Prime Minister also emphasized a “closer than ever” partnership with Ukraine.
Officials are expected to sign a partnership agreement to deepen existing defense ties. Additionally, the UK is set to offer further military assistance to Ukraine amid concerns that the United States might begin scaling back its support.
Starmer will also discuss potential security guarantees that the UK can provide to Kyiv, including the possibility of British troops joining postwar peacekeeping forces.
Previously, it was reported that UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer planned to visit Ukraine “in the coming weeks” to discuss the potential deployment of international peacekeeping forces if a ceasefire agreement is reached.
