Moscow is open to dialogue with the new U.S. administration on the Ukrainian conflict, russian publication RBC quotes putin.

"We note the statements of the newly elected U.S. president and his team about the desire to restore direct contacts with Russia, which were severed not by our fault but by the outgoing administration", - putin said.

According to him, the kremlin also acknowledges Trump's remarks on the need to prevent a third world war.

"Undoubtedly, we welcome this stance and congratulate the elected president of the U.S. on assuming office", - added putin.

He stated that russia has never refused dialogue and has always been ready to maintain "equal and cooperative relations" with any U.S. administration.

Moscow expects that the dialogue will be built "on an equal and mutually respectful basis", taking into account "the significant role our countries play in addressing key issues", including strengthening strategic stability and security, putin explained.

"We are also open to dialogue with the new U.S. administration on the Ukrainian conflict", - he asserted.

As reported, Trump has instructed that a phone call with the kremlin be organized in the coming days.
