In an interview with russia's Parliamentary Gazette, Vladimir Dzhabarov, the first deputy chairman of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs, stated that Trump's "demonstrative silence" on the Ukrainian issue during his inaugural address is "further confirmation" that "this is not his war, that he did not start it, and that it directly contradicts the interests of America and its people".
"It cannot be denied that Ukraine and its president, Volodymyr Zelensky, have become a headache for Trump", - Dzhabarov said.
"At the same time, Trump clearly understands that this conflict cannot be easily resolved. Russia will not back down from its interests. Therefore, I think we all need to take a breath and wait for real actions. First and foremost—establishing contacts between Trump and Putin. Especially since everything points to such contacts being prepared", - the kremlin official said hopefully.
It was previously reported that the new U.S. president stated that he still has "half a day" to end the war in Ukraine.
