U.S. President Donald Trump spoke with russian dictator Putin by phone in an attempt to negotiate an end to the war in Ukraine. He disclosed this in an exclusive interview with The Post aboard Air Force One.
"I’d rather not say", - Trump responded when asked how many times he had spoken with putin by phone.
But Trump believes that putin "cares" about the killings on the battlefield.
"He wants people to stop dying", - Trump said.
"All these dead people. Young, young, beautiful people. They are like your children, two million of them – and for nothing". The three-year war "never would have happened" if he had been president in 2022, Trump claimed.
"I’ve always had a good relationship with putin", - he added.
Trump stated that he has a concrete plan to end the war.
"I hope it will be quick. People are dying every day. This war is so bad in Ukraine. I want to end this damn thing", - Trump was quoted as saying.
The publication also cites Trump’s words addressed to National Security Advisor Mike Waltz, who joined him in the office aboard Air Force One: "Let’s start these meetings. They want to meet. People are dying every day. Young, beautiful soldiers are being killed. Young people, just like my sons. On both sides. All across the battlefield".
