In nearly three years of full-scale war, russia has occupied 337 settlements in the Donetsk oblast. This was reported to Glavkom by Nataliia Chukova, head of the department for ensuring interaction with local self-government bodies of the Donetsk Oblast Military Administration, in response to a request.
According to the official, as of January 31, 2025, a total of 784 settlements in the Donetsk oblast are temporarily occupied (447 of which have been under temporary occupation since 2014).
Currently, the enemy controls just over 60% of the Donetsk oblast.
The analytical project DeepState reported that in January 2025, the russian army occupied 325 sq. km. of Ukrainian territory, the lowest figure since August 2024. For example, in August 2024, 363 sq. km were captured, in September—397, in October—503, in November—730, in December—394, and in January 2025—325 sq. km.
