Russian media outlets also reported that Trump confirmed having a lengthy discussion with putin.
Trump stated that the conversation was very productive. According to him, they discussed Ukraine, the Middle East, energy issues, and a number of other topics.
Trump mentioned that he and putin agreed on the need to stop the military conflict in Ukraine.
Trump stated that he agreed with putin to work closely together, including future mutual visits to russia and the U.S.
Kremlin spokesperson Peskov also reported that the conversation lasted nearly an hour and a half. Putin invited Trump to visit moscow.
"Putin agreed with Trump that a long-term settlement in Ukraine can be achieved through negotiations", - Peskov said.
Russian media outlets also reported that Trump stated that during the call, he agreed with putin to instruct their teams to start negotiations "immediately". He stated that after the conversation with putin, he hopes for the success of their joint efforts "in the near future".
Later, russian media reported that russia and the U.S. will begin negotiations on Ukraine. On the American side, they will be led by Secretary of State Rubio, CIA Director Ratcliffe, National Security Advisor Waltz, and Special Envoy for the Middle East Witkoff. Trump's special envoy for the Ukrainian crisis, Kellogg, is not on the list of negotiators.
As reported, U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent held talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Kyiv on February 12.
