"Look at the atrocities they (Ukraine - ed.) are committing on the territories, and you want even the thought of negotiating about whether some territories need to be given up? Give them up how, with Russian people or without people, with only rare earth metals?", - he hypocritically stated at a press conference in moscow on February 17.
Discussing expectations from the upcoming negotiations with the United States, the head of russia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs said, "First and foremost, we want to listen to them".
"We will listen to the American counterparts. And, of course, we will be ready to respond. Then, we will report back to our leaders, who will make decisions about the next steps", - he noted.
Lavrov also spoke out against European participation in the negotiations.
"I don’t know what they would do at the negotiating table. If they are going to beg for some deceitful ideas about freezing the conflict, while continuing the war as is their custom and nature, then why invite them?", - said the russian Foreign Minister.
