Eleven years have passed since russia began its undeclared war against Ukraine. Today, we honor the memory of the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred, who gave their lives for Ukraine to be a free, democratic, European state.

As reported by the head of the Donetsk Oblast Military Administration, Vadym Filashkin, among the fallen Heroes were six Donetsk residents – Serhii Bondariov, Volodymyr Naumov, Ivan Panteleiev, Liudmyla Sheremet, Dmytro Cherniavskyi, and Volodymyr Rybak.

As is known, protests on the Maidan began in November 2013, when the fugitive president Viktor Yanukovych halted Ukraine’s European integration process. In February 2014, special forces opened fire and began abducting peaceful demonstrators. The highest losses occurred on February 20 in Kyiv, when 48 people were killed. Over the winter of 2013-2014, another 54 protesters lost their lives. In the spring of 2014, during the struggle for democratic values and Ukraine's territorial integrity, five more Maidan participants were killed.
