French President Emmanuel Macron, during a televised address to the nation on March 5, announced a meeting of the chiefs of staff of Ukraine’s allied countries. This was reported by DW.
Peace in Ukraine may require the deployment of European forces in the country, Macron stated during his address. He once again reaffirmed his readiness to send French peacekeepers to Ukraine in the future.
According to him, the chiefs of staff of the countries willing to take responsibility on this matter will meet in Paris next week.
"I want to believe that the United States will support us, but we must be prepared if that is not the case", - he noted, calling for increased investment in the defense sector.
Macron stated that "peace cannot be built at any cost and under russia’s dictates".
Speaking about Ukraine, he declared that the world is "entering a new era", and that russia now threatens all of Europe.
