U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who is heading to Saudi Arabia for negotiations with Ukraine, stated that during consultations, his delegation will attempt to understand what concessions Kyiv is willing to make for the sake of peace. This was reported by the BBC.

During an interview with journalists on board the plane, the head of the State Department said that Washington is also uncertain about the exact conditions that would satisfy russia for ending the war.

At the same time, Rubio stated that both sides would have to make concessions, possibly territorial ones.

"The russians cannot conquer all of Ukraine, and, of course, it will be very difficult for Ukraine in any foreseeable future to force the russians to return to where they were in 2014", - the U.S. Secretary of State was quoted by The New York Times.

"We need to understand Ukraine’s position and simply get a general idea of what concessions they might be willing to make. There will be no ceasefire and no end to this war unless both sides make concessions", - Rubio told journalists (Reuters quote).

"Perhaps we won’t get into too many details, we won’t be drawing lines on the map in the negotiation room, but [we want to form] a general understanding of what concessions are realistically possible for them and what they want in return. Then we will determine russia’s position on this matter—and that will give us a fairly good assessment of how far apart they are", - Rubio stated.
