The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China stated that they are unaware of more than 155 Chinese citizens who, according to President Volodymyr Zelensky, are fighting on the side of the russian army against Ukraine. This was announced at a briefing by the representative of the Chinese foreign ministry, Lin Jian, as reported by Suspilne.
Commenting on a journalist's question about the presence of such a number of PRC citizens in the war in Ukraine, he said he had "nothing to share".
The representative of the Chinese MFA also emphasized that Beijing's position on russia’s war against Ukraine is "objective and fair" and stressed that his country is neither "the creator of the Ukrainian crisis nor a party involved".
"Let me emphasize that China’s position on the Ukrainian crisis is objective and fair. We strive to promote a ceasefire and peaceful negotiations. This is well understood by the international community", - he explained.
According to him, the PRC government has always urged its citizens to stay away from conflict zones and avoid participating in them in any form.
"In particular, to refrain from taking part in military actions on any side. We advise concerned parties to properly and soberly understand China’s role and not to publish irresponsible comments", - added Lin Jian.
It should be recalled that Ukrainian forces in the Donetsk oblast captured two Chinese citizens who were fighting on the side of the russians.
