The United Kingdom intends to support the initiative to establish an international tribunal to try vladimir putin, based on the model of the Nuremberg Trials, despite resistance from U.S. President Donald Trump. This was reported by The Telegraph, citing informed sources, as relayed by "The Moscow Times" Telegram channel.

According to the publication, as early as May, London plans to speak in the Council of Europe in support of a resolution that calls for holding russia’s military and political leadership accountable for the crime of aggression against Ukraine. The proposal envisions the establishment of a special international court, modeled after the Nuremberg Tribunal, which tried Nazi criminals after World War II.

Support from Britain became the result of active lobbying by Philippe Sands, director of the Centre on International Courts and Tribunals at University College London. After the U.S. elections in November, he met with UK Attorney General Richard Hermer to discuss the prospects of creating such a tribunal, writes The Telegraph. The idea of the tribunal was also supported by former Labour Prime Minister Gordon Brown and several former ministers from the Conservative Party.
