According to the website of the President of Ukraine, during a conversation with media representatives in the Republic of South Africa on April 24, Volodymyr Zelensky noted that at the meeting in Saudi Arabia, the American team proposed a regime of full and unconditional ceasefire, which Ukraine accepted without conditions, but russia did not.
“If russia claims that it is ready for a ceasefire, they need to stop massive strikes on Ukraine”, - the President said.
Zelensky emphasized that Ukraine wants to end the war and receive reliable security guarantees. But the first step toward peace negotiations must be a complete and unconditional ceasefire.
“We are doing everything our partners suggested. The only things we cannot do are those that contradict our legislation and Constitution. And that is clear, because even the fight for the independence of our state, for our sovereignty and territorial integrity – it’s about our survival. And we are absolutely direct and absolutely transparent here”, - the President noted.
According to Zelensky, it is important that the whole world supports peace initiatives and forces russia to end the war.
