he government cannot cancel the decision of a substantial increase MPs’ salaries. MP Alexander Opanasenko from Samopomich commented on the statement of Prime Minister Vladimir Groysman in the air of Channel 5 that the government does not support Rada’s resolution.

According to the MP, only the Verkhovka Rada can abolish the increase in MPs’ salaries Rada, but not the Cabinet of Ministers.

"Regarding the comments of the Prime Minister. It is strange when the Cabinet of Ministers that is hired by the Verkhovna Rada, when the institution that must implement the decision of the Verkhovna Rada, said it would not do it. Resolution is voted, the Verkhovna Rada can abolish it by another decree," - said A.Opanasenko.

However, he believes increase of the MPs’ salary is correct and justified by the fight against corruption.

"We need to raise salaries, MPs’ salary should be sufficient, so that not only corrupts are elected to the Verkhovna Rada. If we want to see professional people there, we must pay more," - said the MP.

On October 20th, the Verkhovna Rada adopted the state budget for 2017 in the first reading. At the same time, MPs adopted a resolution on a substantial increase in their own salaries: for speaker to 43.5 thousand hryvnia, deputies - to 40.6 thousand hryvnia, usual MPs - to 36.3 thousand hryvnia.
