Eight criminal proceedings were opened in connection with the offenses on May 8 and 9 in five regions of Ukraine. This was stated by the Deputy Head of the National Police Oleksandr Fatsevich today at a departmental meeting, the Communications Department of the National Police of Ukraine reports.

He noted that in Ukraine on May 8 and 9, on the initiative of state authorities and local self-government, more than 2 thousand mass events took place, in which about 700 thousand citizens took part. At the same time, more than 30,000 policemen and 3,500 servicemen of the National Guard provided public safety and order.

"Overall, the events were calm, half less active than in previous years, as shown by the insignificant number of participants in the majority of regions, far fewer conflict situations occurred, and, as a result, the fewer number of the detained citizens, the minimum number of whom were injured", - Fatsevich said.

He added that 89 people were invited to the police departments for various offenses and 8 criminal proceedings were opened in five regions.

According to O.Fatsevich, the use of state-of-the-art equipment played a significant role in organizing the monitoring of the development of events, the management of forces in the event of complications and documenting offenses. In particular, law enforcement officers used three special vehicles for visual observation of the Situational Center of the National Police and the National Guard, as well as a police helicopter.
