The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine gave consent to the lifting of parliamentary immunity, detention, and arrest of a non-faction People's Deputy Nadiia Savchenko, OstroV’s correspondent reports.
Some 291 lawmakers voted to give their permission to Savchenko's prosecution at the plenary session on Thursday. 277 and 268 MPs voted in favor of, respectively, detention and arrest of Savchenko.
As it was reported earlier, Prosecutor General Yuriy Lutsenko tabled in parliament a motion for the criminal prosecution, detention, and arrest of MP Savchenko. He said that that Savchenko had plotted acts of terror in the parliamentary hall.
In turn, Savchenko denies her guilt and claims that she was joking about preparing terrorist acts in the Rada.
Parliamentary Regulatory Committee recommended lifting immunity, detention and arrest of Nadiia Savchenko.
