The Verkhovna Rada has preliminarily approved the presidential bill amending the Constitution to reduce the constitutional composition of the parliament from 450 to 300 and consolidate the proportional election system (No. 1017), - correspondent of OstroV reports.
236 people's deputies voted for the corresponding decision.
The bill proposes to reduce the composition of people's deputies of Ukraine from 450 to 300 and consolidate the proportional election system in the parliamentary elections.
One more voting of the constitutional majority of the parliament (300 people's deputies) is necessary at the next session for the final decision.
As previously reported, the Verkhovna Rada sent bill No.1017, which proposes a reduction in the number of deputies from 450 to 300, to the Constitutional Court
In December 2019, the Constitutional Court of Ukraine issued a decision recognizing the reduction in the number of people's deputies as constitutional.
