Press Secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov is not aware of any actions of the Russian Federation about the allegedly soon accession of the occupied territories of Donbass to Russia. He told this on the air of Mayak radio.
As previously reported, Russian mercenary Alexander Borodai, who headed the so-called Donetsk People's Republic in 2014, showed confidence on July 5, 2020 during the congress of the Rodina (Homeland) party in St. Petersburg that the Kremlin would de jure include the occupied territories of Ukrainian Donbass to the Federation in the near future.
"Indeed, many citizens from these "republics" received Russian citizenship. The decision to grant citizenship was made for purely humanitarian reasons, when citizens were essentially torn away by their country. I know nothing about the de facto steps towards Russia. The Kremlin continues to call these territories the South-East of Ukraine".
Peskov also stated that Moscow would continue to support residents of the occupied Donbass, because "we are not significantly approaching the moment the situation is resolved in the southeast of Ukraine".
Earlier, Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation on Foreign Affairs Vladimir Dzhabaro stated that Russia was not going to include the occupied Donbass in the Russian Federation.
